OLIVE BRANCH, Miss.–(BW SportsWire)–June 28, 1999–.

Duffy Waldorf played the Wright Golf iP Closed Cavity irons this

week at Westchester Country Club to capture his first tour win since

1995.

Wright Golf and Duffy reached an agreement to carry the Wright Golf

iP irons and Staff bag during the week of his win.

In their tour debut, Wright’s iP irons received their first

PGA Darrell Survey hit and a victory in that first week.

“This is significant in the fact that the irons haven't been

in play on the PGA tour until this week,”. Commented Doug Wright,

CEO of Wright Golf. “We've had numerous hits on the Senior

Circuit with as many as 5 sets in play at the Ford Senior Players

Championship without incentives. The Nike PGA has already had several

hits as well.”.

“Duffy is the first player to play the iP Closed Cavity iron

on the PGA tour and the first player to win with the iron on the PGA

tour. He accomplished both in the same week. That in and of itself may

be a first in the history of golf with irons.”.

Wright introduced the iP Closed Cavity irons last January at the

Orlando PGA Merchandise show and weren't available to the public until

recently. The design is unique in that each iron appears traditional as

a blade. However, the iron has a cavity in the center which promotes

better feel than cavity back clubs. The internal perimeter weighting of

the club head, combined with better strength and uniform face thickness,

results in less dispersion and better distance off the toe and heel of

the club.

The “true”. Perimeter weighting achieved from the design

makes each club feel the same throughout the set. This weighting system

minimizes dispersion left and right of the target line.

Wright offers two Closed Cavity lines to the public. The iP Offset

is a traditional offset iron containing a constant cavity in each iron

throughout the set. The iP Tour offers very little offset and a

progressive cavity. As the Tour irons work closer to the green, the

cavity becomes smaller until the pitching wedge is almost a true blade,

thus promoting the workability of the iron.

Wright Golf was founded in 1997 by Douglas Wright, CEO and

inventor. Conceived with a mission to deliver better equipment to the

golfing public, Wright converted his idea of a better driver into the

Titanium driving wood that was longer than the rest, picked by several

long driving champions. Now used by Gil Morgan on tour. In January

of 1999, Wright Golf emerged with 2 new lines of irons utilizing Closed

Cavity Technology. All products are manufactured and assembled in the

USA. So, what do you think? Tell us...
